Hey, this is me, Viviam Alcalde

I live in Toronto (ON), and I’m an experienced Digital Content Strategist and a UI/UX Designer. Know more about me and my career path below.

My background

I grew up being curious, and inquisitive, and I always wanted to know people better and their stories. I chose Journalism as my career at first to write good information to people and about them, explaining things the best I could. I specialized in digital content and strategy, also working with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques for web content.

But I noticed that people would understand the information better not only through the content but also because of the design, the graphics, and the visuals in general. People could also be lost in the information, and they could struggle to find them on the web. Thus, I also included graphic design and infographics in my content.

Before realizing that, I had as a hobby Graphic and User Interface design, even before UX/UI was a thing. I created my personal blog layouts and web design for myself and other people on Photoshop, Blogger, and WordPress. I also created some logotypes and icons since then. So, digital design was already with me since my adolescence.

What's up now...

Some time ago, I found a profession that merges those two experiences and passions of mine: UX/UI, or Product Design. It was the name of what I was looking for. A profession where I could interview people, tell stories, and design to make people’s lives easier on the web, apps, or even when playing games.

So nowadays what moves me is facilitating to people understand interfaces and information in an attractive, interactive, and easier way. I still bring with me the will to understand people to tell their stories, so I can design better experiences for them.

Currently, I live in Toronto (ON, Canada) where I studied User Experience (UX) at Centennial College in 2021. I am passionate about the UX process, especially the strategy, wireframing and prototyping parts. I have been developing real and hypothetical projects involving heuristics.

As part of the program, I helped to develop UX strategy and prototype for the website and applications of two real companies. For one of them, my group received a Dean’s Award for Entrepreneurship and Innovation from Centennial College.

I am always eager to learn and adapt myself but I already have plenty of useful skills, which you can see below.
